Michael Camburn, Consultant

Michael Camburn has been a member of the FMP team for over three years.  As a consultant, Mr. Camburn develops and implements human resource management and workforce planning solutions customized to the organization’s specific structure, culture, and mission.  He has experience developing comprehensive performance management systems which have involved competency modeling, designing competency-based management systems, creating individual development plans that link to organizational goals, writing total compensation policies, and providing systems training to managers and staff.  Mr. Camburn has also served as a human capital expert during workforce planning efforts.  In coordination with members of the DoD Defense Acquisition University, he recently wrote the DoD Acquisition, Technology and Logistics(AT&L) Human Capital Strategic Plan and he is currently writing two companion documents – The DoD AT&L State of the Workforce Report and the DoD AT&L Human Capital Initiatives Implementation Plan.

Mr. Camburn has a rigorous background in research and statistical methodologies.  His research has been published and presented at leading academic conferences, including the Annual meeting of the Academy of Management.  His consulting services often involve researching organizational systems best practices, creating and administering web-based tools and surveys, facilitating meetings, focus groups, and interviews with employees at all organizational levels, and analyzing the resulting data.  Mr. Camburn received his M.A. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from George Mason University and his B.S. in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University as a member of the Schreyer Honors College
