Steve Benowitz, Senior Advisor

Steve Benowitz consults with public and private organizations on a wide range of management and human resources services.  His clients include federal and state government agencies, private businesses, and a major university.  He retired with over 30 years of service in the federal government, most recently serving as an Associate Director Office of Personnel Management.  At OPM he was responsible for insurance programs covering 8.5 million federal employees, annuitants, and their families and executive and management development programs for the federal government.  His portfolio exceeded $1 billion annually.  He previously served as the Director of Human Resources for the National Institutes of Health, where he also established and directed the Office of Strategic Management Planning, and served as the Executive Officer of the Office of the Director, where he was responsible for a budget in excess of $380 million.  He also served as Director of Personnel for the Department of the Treasury and the Federal Trade Commission.  His work has been recognized by three successive Presidents, from whom he received the Rank of Distinguished Executive and Meritorious Executive (twice).
