Peter, a Consultant at FMP, partners with clients to develop tailored solutions that enhance team effectiveness and collaboration across a variety of industries.

1.What led you to join FMP?

I joined FMP because it has a great culture and a very technically skilled, impactful workforce. FMP’s work successfully blends meaningful science with practice in ways that allow us to truly impart positive change to clients. In my opinion, the rigorous and tailored nature of our work allows us to stand out from the pack.

2. What do you think it takes to be successful in this field? What do you think it takes for organizations to be successful in today’s environment?

Adaptability and flexibility are critical to both individual and organizational success in this field. From an individual standpoint, we are constantly confronted with new client challenges that force us to adjust the course and scope of our work. Likewise, organizations must be constantly leveraging and cultivating new skills to address the rapidly changing demands of our society and economy.

3. What challenges do you see organizations facing regarding team collaboration/effectiveness?

Organizations are increasingly relying on teams to accomplish work so as to leverage different areas of expertise and experience to increase the quality of final products and decision-making. Unfortunately, everyone isn’t naturally a ‘team-player.’ The good news is that these collaborative skills can be learned and honed through 1. helping employees increase their self-awareness around natural tendencies, 2. identifying skill/preference gaps, and 3. establishing group norms that accommodate everyone’s collaboration style.

4. Work life balance is important. What do you like to do outside of work?

My family lived abroad when I was younger, which caused me to catch the soccer bug. You’re likely to either find me on a soccer field, or catching a game at a pub. If both of those fail, I’m probably at Chipotle.
